The course of Chartered Accountancy
comprises of three levels:
Entrance (CPT) | Intermediate (IPCC) | Final Along with articleship training of 3 years
Total Duration of the Course: Four years after 12th
Eligibility: Student must be 12th Pass out in any discipline & with any percentage.
ENTRANCE LEVEL: Common Proficiency Test [C.P .T.]
This is a gateway to the course of Chartered Accountancy. A Student is eligible to register for the same just after passing class X & can appear for the test after passing/ appearing class XII.
Some of the features of the Course are:
(i) Student need to register for the course by filling a simple application form costing Rs. 100/-. The registration fee for the same is Rs. 6000/-
(ii) Exam will be held twice in a year (June, December). Cut off dates for getting registrations are as follows: For December Exams (1st October) & For June Exams (1st April)
(iii) Paper will be objective type and of 200 Marks.
(iv) Course will be comprises of four subject divided into two session (two hours each) of 100 Marks each for the test
(v) There will be 100 question of 1 Marks in each session with negative
marking of 0.25
marks for the wrong answer.

(vi) At least 50% marks are required to pass the exams, aggregate in both the session.
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: Integrated Professional Competence Course
(I.P .C.C.)
As a student passes CPT exams, he need to register for IPCC. Some of the
features of the
course are:
(1) Registration for IPCC will be done after passing CPT exams under which student has to appear in exams after the 9 months of registration.
(2) Examination comprises of 2 Groups with the following subjects :

Group-I: (i) Accounting (ii) Law, Ethics and Communication (iii) Costing and Financial Management (iv) Taxation
Group-II: (i) Advanced Accounting (ii) Auditing & Assurance (iii) Information Technology and Strategic Management
(3) To pass the same aggregate 50% marks are required in both the groups and 40% marks individually in each subjects.
(4) The registration fee for IPCC course both group including Accounting Technician Course (ATC) certification is Rs. 10000/-
(5) Along with IPCC Course, student have to complete 100 hrs Information Technology training and a week long orientation program which is conducted by ICAI chapters of the respective cities.
ARTICLESHIP TRAINING & FINAL LEVEL
After passing Group I or both Group of IPCC examination, student have
to register for
practical training of 3 years under any practicing chartered
accountant. Students can
appear for the final exam after completing the training for 2.5 years.
As they clear the final
examination, complete the practical training and also General
Management and
Communication training they are qualified to become a member of
ICAI.
